Q. How did you find your way into fitness?
A. As a dancer, physical movement has always been a part of my life, but in 2011 I started working for Equinox, which ignited my interest in training, teaching competing, and health and wellness in the fitness spectrum.
Q. So you’re the founder of SexyFit, but what exactly is SexyFit?
A. SexyFit is a total body workout designed to heighten your self-confidence and bring out your inner sexy! SexyFit offers circuit training, bootcamps, dance classes with heels, personal training, and nutrition coaching.
Q. How did you start SexyFit and why?
A. I started SexyFit in 2011 with the idea of incorporating my love of dance and fitness into one class. My knowledge was expanding in the fitness realm and I was learning new exercises, programs, the importance of nutrition and overall health and wellness tools, which in return I wanted to share with friends, colleagues, and students. I believe when you are at your best physically you will feel better, confident, and sexy!
Q. What is your favorite part about being a fitness instructor?
A. Motivating and building relationships with students to elevate them to their greatness.
Q. Tell us your favorite thing about your body?
A. My favorite thing about my body is that it is always a work in progress. Embrace where you are but love where you are going!
Q. What inspires you most?
A. I am very visual and easily inspired by creativity, such as art, music, quotes, body movement, and nature. In addition, I must include my mentors, family, and close friends that believe in me. I don’t want to let them down. They inspire me to keep going and to keep striving to live in my greater self. My students also inspire me as well when they are consistently progressing and conquering their goals, it reinforces my purpose to keep going and making the world SEXYFIT!
Q. What advice do you have for people wanting to live a fit lifestyle?
A. My advice would be first and foremost to work on MINDSET. You have to love yourself enough to focus on making positive transformation changes. Nothing changes without CHANGE. You have to train your mind to get out of bed, to show up for your workouts, to make healthy eating choices. Your mind is your driving force. There is no easy way to reach your peak, to get to the top you have to put in the work! My 5 pillars of Sexyfit are Mindset, Nutrition, Sleep, Recovery, and lastly Exercise. Most people focus on the last pillar, but you won’t maximize your most effective results without completing the first four daily. It starts in the MIND, you have to want it for yourself. I always tell my classes, be good to yourself so you in return can be good to others. Don’t look for fads, trends, diets, make lifestyle changes. SexyFit...It’s a Lifestyle.
Q. Name one guilty pleasure?
A. Going out and dancing until late hours of the night, which of course affects rest and recovery from my 5 Pillars of SexyFit. I like to think of it as extra cardio ;)
Q. Favorite song to workout to?
A. This is tough one, I can honestly say I don’t have one. I get really inspired by new sounds and rhythms. If you go to any of my classes you will always hear the hottest and latest music with fun beats and tempos. I listen to new music weekly so whatever song is hot that week is my favorite song to workout to most likely. Hip hop and pop remixes are always my go to genres.
Q. What motivates you to get out of bed?
A. My purpose. I know that I’m here to empower, lift, and motivate everyone I encounter to be great. I tend to live in the moment, so everyday is a new adventure I can’t get back, so I'm either excelling or learning daily.
Q. Favorite travel destination?
A. I love Miami! I try to go at least once a year. I will say traveling to Africa last year in 2017, was a highlight, but there are so many places I have yet to explore. I love to travel and see new cultures. I recently traveled to Jamaica and can’t wait to go back!
Big thanks to Nicole for spreading the body love and inspiration!
